The “Azerbaijan Youth Euro Atlantic Organization” is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 2003. The organization is aimed to promote civil society, raise public awareness on Euro-Atlantic values and contribute in development of democracy in Azerbaijan. National NGO “Azerbaijan Youth Euro Atlantic Organization” is guided by the belief that high civic education and active participation of the population in the process of development of society are the main conditions of civil society. Developed civil society cannot be established only by existence of non-governmental organizations. Rather, it evolves based on active participation of people in the life of society. By supporting and promoting this process the organization helps to raise civic awareness of the population as well as to encourage determined group of society to think and to contribute in developing a solution for the current problems of the country. The organization conducts its activity in different dimensions: 1. Youth Development dimension; 2. Civic Education dimension; 3. Research Developing dimension; 4. Euro-Atlantic values dimension.
Goals and Objectives of AYEAO AYEAO has been established to:
contribute to Azerbaijan's cooperation with Euro-Atlantic Institutions;
raise public awareness and knowledge about NATO, EU, COE and other European Institutions;
ensure various venues for discussions, deliberations and exchange of views on current role of Alliance and Euro-Atlantic Partnership in the light of the dangers posed by new security challenges;
tackle unfading potential of youth in the joint efforts aimed at fighting new threats and challenges;
contribute to strengthening Azerbaijan's place in the Euro-Atlantic security system;
facilitate a stable and integrated society that would base its values on highly moral grounds;
develop the intellectual and professional skills of the members of the Organization, facilitate their ability for access to new information and knowledge;
inform different layer of the society about Euro-Atlantic Institutions and Azerbaijan's aims to integrate to this organizations;
ensure involvement of youth to Azerbaijan's cooperation with the Euro-Atlantic institutions;
promote understanding of the international community about Azerbaijan's problems, needs and aims;
promote democratic development of Azerbaijan on the basis of shared values, rule of law and human rights;
distribute information and organize discussions on the issues concerning Azerbaijan's security policy;
encourage scientific-research activities on Azerbaijan and international security issues;
participate at the forums devoted to international security policy;
cooperate with organizations in Azerbaijan and abroad, which support the aims of AYEAO.
How does AYEAO work?
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the highest decision making body of the Organization. The AGM elects the AYEAO Board, which consists of the Chairman, Secretary General, two Deputy Chairmen and nine Board members. The Board organizes the activities of AYEAO between AGMs, approves decisions and reports to the AGM.
Why the Youth?
All the goals pursued by the Organization are set according to the principles of a democratic organization by placing particular emphasis on the role of youth:
raise interest of the youth on current Euro-Atlantic security issues;
tackle unfading potential of youth to contribute to expansion of the boundries of peace, security and democracy through Euro-Atlantic area;
Contribute and support Azerbaijan's integration process to the Euro-Atlantic structures;
expand knowledge about NATO as well as other Euro-Atlantic Institutions and their role in the maintainance of peace, security and democratic development through Euro-Atlantic area;
examine internal and external aspects of maintaining national security of Azerbaijan in the light of the new threats and challenges.
