On Monday, 23 October 2006 best graduates from NATO International School in Azerbaijan visited to NATO HQ (Brussels). Three members of Azerbaijan Youth Euro-Atlantic Organization – Coshgun Imanquliyev, Gulperi Ayyubova and Mujdat Hasanov – participated in this programme. During a programme they had met with some officials. Mrs. Yeter YAMAN-NAUCODIE, Information Officer for Azerbaijan, Public Diplomacy Division had welcoming remarks and presentation on NATO’s Agenda for the Riga Summit. Then Mr. Erik SANDHAL, Crisis Management and Operations Section gave some information about NATO’s Operations. Presentation and discussion on NATO’s Relations with Azerbaijan was given by Mr Robert F. SIMMONS Jr., Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Security Cooperation and Partnership and the Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia. Also interesting presentations were given by Mr Kerem ALP, Russia and Ukraine Relations Section, Political Affairs and Security Policy Division on NATO’s Relations with Russia, Dr Walter KAFFENBERGER, Programme Director, Collaborative Programmes Section, and Public Diplomacy Division on NATO’s Scientific Programme. Students’ had interesting questions related to the presentations given by the speakers. Then alumnies completed Feedback Questionnaire. After ending of the programme at NATO HQ participants had a meeting at AZERBAIJAN Embassy.
Next day alumnies visited to SHAPE and there they had briefing on Allied Command Operations and the Way Ahead and briefing by Partnership Coordination Cell. At the end of the briefings participants had question and answer panel.
