
Azerbaijan Youth Euro Atlantic Organization has organized the conference entitled “NATO Membership; Doest it make sense”. This conference was held within the project called “Integration to Euro-Atlantic Structures” that consists of various round tables, presentations, seminars and conferences during the period November-December 2005.
The mentioned conference was gathered students from different universities, AYEAO members, young researches and experts of the field and following issues was discussed; NATO Enlargement and Membership, its perspectives, challenges and threats it faces, Euro-Atlantic Security and integration to these structures, the Role of South Caucasus in it and so on.
The president of Azerbaijan Youth Euro Atlantic Organization Ziya Gaziyev opened the work of the conference and gave brief information about the Organization, its goals and latest activities have done and also emphasized its great importance of organizing such events.
The invited guest speakers, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Araz Azimov and Former Permanent Representative of Turkey to CSCE/OSCE Mr. Ali Hikmet Alp made presentations on the topic and answered to questions of the participants of the conference.
The conference was organized on November 24 in Western University with the assistance of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkish Embassy to Azerbaijan, which is NATO point Embassy in Azerbaijan.
