From June 14 to 19, 2004 Azerbaijan Youth Euro Atlantic Organization organized International NATO Summer School in Baku, Azerbaijan. The “NATO Summer School 2004” was prepared with the sponsorship of NATO Public Diplomacy Division and with the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic. In the event took part 5 international; Turkey, Germany, Georgia, Finland, Denmark and 40 local participants from different universities, research centers and other institutions. The official opening ceremony was done with the participation of NATO Member countries Embassies accredited in Baku and also with the delegate from NATO HQ. Jean Fournet, NATO Assistant Secretary General congratulated the participants and talked about the importance of the event. At the end he gave an annual event status to the NATO Summer Schools in Azerbaijan. During the summer school the participants had an opportunity to get information from the “first hands” and discuss thoroughly each of the subjects with the professionals under the Chatam House Rules. There were invited some key government officials, NATO experts, including Ambassadors of NATO member countries accredited in Baku dealing with the subjects on their daily business.
